One of the components of TMW18 initiative are programs crafted to deliver the TMW18 Aspired Outcomes within the strategic clusters including Economy, Health, Safety, Culture and Education to further prepare women for the IR4.0.
The focus areas of the programs are as follows :
In keeping up with the IR4.0 revolution, creating awareness and acquiring knowledge should be a major focus. Thought leadership sessions , round-table dialogues and exchange of ideas must take place to understand and keep up with what is going on, the trends and insights, and acquiring best practices along the way. There need to be more women in the advocacy, influence and change agent space to ensure this gets proliferated to the masses and touches each and every women out there.
The world is developing faster than ever before with science and technology offering new opportunities and innovative solutions to major economic, social and health challenges. Programs/projects undertaken here will accelerate the progress impacting a large number of communities and be closely aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals like zero hunger, good health and wellbeing, quality education and so forth.
The magnitude of the IR4.0’s impact on jobs is associated with a worker’s skill level and whether their job is repetitive or routine. Some studies predict that lower-skilled to middle-skilled jobs will be most impacted. The various studies also agree that high-skilled workers would be least affected, which is a scenario that could result in rising inequality. Interventions will need to be devised particularly in the high technology areas which is usually dominated by men, to ensure women get a fair share of the IR4.0 economy pie.
The advancement of IR4.0 has brought more about automation and digitization greatly reducing repetitive jobs that threaten their livelihood. Based on a study of the labor force in 46 countries, McKinsey Global Institute concludes that almost half of work activities globally have the potential to be automated. Helping workers to acquire new skills is crucial. This also affects the women entrepreneurs who will also need to upskill and reskill to adapt and adopt particularly digital strategies and technologies to their businesses to remain in the forefront.
